How much does a sauna cost in Canada?
Typical prices in CAD: barrel saunas $5,500 to $12,000, cabin saunas $8,000 to $25,000, indoor saunas $3,500 to $9,000. Add delivery, GST/PST, a base and electrical work.
Does an outdoor sauna work at -40°C?
Yes, with a heater sized for it. Choose one size above the standard 1 kW per 50 cubic feet rule and expect longer warm-ups in deep cold.
How long does a sauna take to heat up in winter?
A properly sized electric outdoor sauna takes 45 to 75 minutes at -30°C. Wood-burning is a bit faster. Indoor saunas take 30 to 45 minutes.
What size heater do I need?
About 1 kW per 50 cubic feet of room, one size up for outdoor prairie use. A 4-person barrel needs 6 to 8 kW; a 6-person needs 8 to 9 kW.
Do I need an electrician?
Yes, for an electric heater. It needs a 240V dedicated circuit and an electrical permit. Wood-burning saunas need no power.
Electric or wood-burning?
Electric is easiest: set a timer and it is ready. Wood-burning needs no power, heats a little faster and suits acreages and cabins, but you tend the fire and need chimney clearances.
Is infrared good outdoors in Canada?
Not on its own. Infrared struggles to warm an outdoor room at -30°C. For a backyard sauna, choose a traditional heater or a hybrid.
Do I need a permit for a backyard sauna?
Electrical work needs a permit. Small accessory buildings often do not need a building permit, but rules vary by city, so check before installing.
What base does an outdoor sauna need?
A level, well-drained base that will not heave with frost: compacted gravel, pavers, a concrete pad, or a deck on frost-safe footings.
How is a sauna delivered?
By freight, usually curbside on a pallet. Plan a cleared driveway and two or three helpers or a dolly. Your price email includes the delivery date.
How long does delivery take?
It depends on the model and whether it is in stock in Canada. We confirm the exact delivery window before you pay anything.
Do I have to assemble it?
Most saunas arrive as kits two handy people can build in a weekend. Some ship pre-assembled. We can point you to local installers.
What wood is best for an outdoor sauna?
Western red cedar and thermally modified wood are the most stable through big temperature swings. Spruce and pine cost less and need a good exterior finish.
Can I pay monthly?
We are setting up monthly payment options. Ask when you request your price.
What about warranty?
Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the model, often several years on the structure and heater. If anything arrives damaged, note it on the delivery slip and tell us right away.
Do you sell cold plunges?
Cold plunges are coming soon. Sauna plus cold plunge is called contrast therapy. Mention it when you request your price and we will add you to the waitlist.
Where do you deliver?
Across Saskatchewan and Alberta, including Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge. Manitoba is coming next.
